Getting from A to B

I'm fortunate (or smart) enough to live relatively close to where I work. I am able to bike to work just about year-round, with a 14 mile round trip. Much of it is in a bike lane or bike trail, and I have one major hill to climb.

Most of the time I get around town on my hybrid bike (that's Electric+Carl power).

Take it from me it's very cool to coast uphill on electric power! Click here or on the picture above for more details on my e-bikes past and present, and the world of electric bicycles in general. Or, see a few of my favorite bicycle accessories.

My 150cc motor scooter is an interesting ride. It's obviously a motor vehicle so I'm fully out in traffic, but I do like the wind in my face feeling. Click here or on the picture above for my motor scooter diaries.

In addition to my e-bike and motor scooter, I also ride these fine unassisted bikes:

  • Easy Racers Gold Rush long-wheelbase recumbent, with Zzipper fairing. This is an absolutely fantastic bike, and my favorite for long-distance rides.

  • Bacchetta Giro short-wheelbase recumbent. Very sporty and fast bike.

  • Marin Verona road bike.

  • Bike Friday AirGlide travel bike. It quick-folds, or more fully disassembles and packs into a suitcase for travel. I've flown with it to Tennessee and Hawaii.

  • Bike Friday Family Tandem. This is a great tandem for one of my children and me, and we've attached our Burley Piccolo trailercycle to the tandem for three-up riding.
